Updates to what I wrote:
It doesn't really matter who you pick as your oshimen, but you can only make your avatar, your "leader," one of your oshimen. The difference between them comes down to what accessories you have for them. You get accessories through the member gacha, and each accessory has a different ability attached, some of which are directed only at a specific member. For example, my leader is Yuzu and most of my clothing options now are to give all Yuzu cards in my teams a boost in HP or appeal, but there are also clothes that give general boosts to the whole team. Also, you can get new titles by leveling up your oshimen.
You get a 50% stat boost or a 50% decrease depending on the orientation of your team during songs. You also get a boost if your cards are wearing the same costume as they are in the performance (costume variations don't seem to matter). Oh, and the number of stars your cards have makes a huge difference, so let's hope that luck is on your side and you can get some 4 or 5 star cards from the card gacha.
The titles are fun. You can change it from the "Other" menu (purple), but you earn them from doing various things in the game and it just makes for a fun atmosphere. They gave away the "Happy Birthday Nao!" title as the most recent log-in reward, which is cool, so everyone in the game can wish her a happy birthday just by changing their title. Apparently they're giving away two special titles in the event in the game for Nao, and the amount of points needed is super high, although I don't know how many points they give away during the event. Still.
But yeah, if anyone has any questions about this, you can PM me here or on H!O or post in the Syachi threads on either site; I check both fairly regularly so I'm not too hard to contact. Hopefully I'll be able to help.
