Watashitachi GIRL
17 June 2012. 09:38:58
The movie of which “Watashitachi” is the theme song of,
GIRL
I received lots of comments like “I went to watch it ♪” and “I heard “Watashitachi” playing in the cinema” from everyone, and am really happy
I finally went to watch it with my friend too
I had already watched it once actually, during a private preview before its release, and I really laughed and cried so much. But I wanted to watch it again, and I wanted the friend who was the inspiration for “Watashitachi”‘s lyrics to watch it too.
Also, I wanted to hear my own song playing during the credits at a cinema
It made my friend really happy, so it was great
Although I already knew the entire story, I still laughed at the same parts, cried at the same things
It was quite a funny sight,
but at the end of the day, I was touched that my song “Watashitachi” was used as the theme song for this movie
Whenever I write lyrics, I think,
“Am I the only person who has such feelings? Am I the only one who thinks this way?”
so I take quite some time to finish each lyric, and even when the song is complete, I don’t have 100% confidence in it.
My first feeling that a song is truly complete is when it has reached everyone, and I have seen and heard everyone’s comments on it…
That the words I had written has resonated with everyone,
that everyone tells me about their feelings about love, friends, future dreams, and other stuff,
Only then can I feel that “Oh, so I’m not the only one” and feel reassured.
When I’m troubled, I talk to my friends, or mummy, or big sis, or my senpai.
They tell me “I’ve been through that too” or “I went through such a period before”, and it somehow makes me feel better.
I guess that everyone, including myself, is searching for that special sparkling thing that makes us unique, and we all work hard to shine more than anyone else,
but there are also lots of interesting things which feel reassuring when many others have had the same experience
In the movie GIRL, Karina-san, acting as Yukiko-san, says,
“As the number of choices in life increases, so does our sense of discomfort, because no matter which path we choose, we tend to wonder if it’s the wrong choice”
I’m sure that line was the one which stayed with us most and gave us reassurance, for myself, my friend, and everyone
Ahh, I feel so refreshed after watching the movie
We cried, laughed, relaxed, detoxed,
and when we found out how we felt the same way after the movie, we both laughed
By the way, did everyone realize that the closet scene which was featured in Watashitachi’s PV
was made in the image of Yukiko-san’s closet in the movie GIRL
A corner of my own closet looks like this
I didn’t want to lose out, so I collected lots of pink and sparkly stuff
I’m really a GIRL
And so, and so, and so, it’s Sunday today
If you have the time, please do visit your nearest cinema
And then, before you hurry off, stay for the credits to hear “Watashitachi”
