Sadamasashi Debut 40thanniversary Concert Sadamatsuri Live CD / Masashi Sada
from SMILE AGAIN single + Sada Matsuri 40th anniversary concert live album.

——

If you are currently steeped in sorrow
And trembling with uncontrolled anxiety
An unspeakable voice now, unseen tears now
Are you unable to share these with anyone?

There are words which I cannot put into words
So if this singing voice can reach out to you
Muster up courage now, wipe away your tears now
I want to see that nostalgic smile once again

SMILE AGAIN, prayers crossing the ocean
SMILE AGAIN, wishes riding on the wind
SMILE AGAIN, don’t forget your dreams
Love will overcome time

I wish you won’t forget, I’m always thinking of you
So if you can hear this singing voice
Just a tiny reply now, hum together with me now
Somehow smile again, for me

SMILE AGAIN, each person is small
SMILE AGAIN, and really weak, but
SMILE AGAIN, with strength and all my heart
I sing of this love

SMILE AGAIN, prayers crossing the ocean
SMILE AGAIN, wishes riding on the wind
SMILE AGAIN, don’t forget your dreams
Love will overcome time

むかし子供達は (Mukashi kodomotachi wa) – Children in the past

Masashi Sada Single Collection / Masashi Sada

from Seisei ruten/Mukashi kodomotachi wa single + Only SINGLES ~Sada Musashi Single Collection~ album.

——

Children in the past were trees bearing dreams
Body full of cuts and scratches, always standing beside God
Children in the past were tiny fireworks
Where will they roll to, when will they explode? Nobody knew

Hang on, hang on, children now
Make tomorrow fair weather too

Children in the past had no roof in their hearts
Whenever they looked up, the blue sky stretched away
Children in the past were amazing inventors
Chopping wood to make pistols and scrap iron radios

Hang on, hang on, children now
Make tomorrow fair weather too

Children in the past were trees bearing dreams
Body full of cuts and scratches, always standing beside God

Hang on, hang on, children now
Make tomorrow fair weather too

chu…… chu…… chu……
la…… la…… la……

Hang on, hang on, children now
Make tomorrow fair weather too

Hang on, hang on, children now
Make tomorrow fair weather too

Children in the past……

With the long journey across the seas over
The ship spends the night in port
In the sailor’s bar, everyone forgets
The toils of the sea with the rum in their glasses
Ah, Number 13 in Minatomachi

On the pavement along the avenue of gingko trees
It’s been a long time since I’ve walked it with you
Attracted by the neon lights
As we turn left along the jetty road
Ah, Number 13 in Minatomachi

The flower that bloomed when our ship reached port
Was scattered by the wind when we set off again
Holding back tears, we did a toast
The new moon is crying outside the window
Ah, Number 13 in Minatomachi

——

It happened when I still didn’t believe in God
It was raining on that September’s Thursday
“Will a wonderful guy appear such a day?”
As I thought that, I heard “You’re my shelter from the rain”
His smiling face, as he laughed and said “Excuse me”
Was so dignified
The 4th tooth from the right of his front teeth was decayed
I had no choice, but to lend him
My Snoopy handkerchief
Which I’d just bought, though I should have lent him my umbrella

But his eloquence was so wonderful
And that was my prayer to God when I felt needy
Let’s say, let’s say, if it is possible
Please let me meet with that person once again
However, chance is really quite a frightening thing
During my first shrine visit of this year, someone stepped on my best dress’ hem
Laughing as he said “Ah, excuse me again”
The decayed tooth shining in his mouth
I thought it was a dream, but it hurt when I pinched my cheek

Never having heard such a ridiculous story
Mama and big brother laughed so hard at me
Even so, I suddenly started wearing lipstick and stuff
They asked “Are you alright?” as they felt my forehead
Adding on with a request
“If you are serious, bring him home”
One Wednesday in May, I called him over
As I tried to make a confident introduction
I spotted a hole in his sock
In a panic, he hid it away, but clearly it had been seen

But because his eloquence was so wonderful
In a good mood, he suddenly said
Let’s say, let’s say, if it is possible
Please let me have this person as my bride
After that, I lost my senses
So I don’t remember what happened
When I came to again
They had already finished talking about the whole matter
They said “Congrats” to me, and I lost my senses again
And before I knew it, I was sheltering from the rain in your arms

——

The light pink cosmos sway
In the nonchalant sunshine of this autumn day
Presently, Mother, fragile with tears
Gives a single cough in the garden
Opening a photo album on the veranda
Of my childhood memories
She repeats the same stories many times
Speaking to herself in a tiny voice

On this quiet Indian summer’s day
Her kindness comes in a flood
She has worked hard for my wedding tomorrow
And changed each moment with funny stories
As she laughed and told me not to worry

Thinking back through all my memories
She has never left me all alone
At this late hour, I bite my lip
Knowing my selfishness
Helping out with packing in anticipation of tomorrow
Just as she was enjoying herself
Suddenly Mother shed tears and said “Be happy”
Repeating it again and again

Reflecting on words on gratitude
I will try to live on my own
But on this quiet Indian summer’s day
Just for a while longer
Let me remain as your child
